The ITS Action Plan and the FRAME Architecture
Action Area 2.3 of the EU ITS Action Plan requires the use of ITS Architecture to support the European objectives of the Plan.
The E-FRAME project has produced a booklet on The FRAME Architecture and the ITS Action Plan which explains the suitability of the FRAME Architecture for this purpose. In addition, the Nov/Dec 2010 edition of "Thinking Highways (Europe/ROW)" had a special feature about the European ITS Action Plan, which included two articles about the FRAME Architecture. In the first an explanation is given as to what an ITS Architecture actually is and, more importantly, how to go about building one. The second explains how the FRAME Architecture can be used to support the requirements of the ITS Action Plan.
The first article can be found at Things to Make and Do
The second article can be found at A Particularly Common Goal
The Nov/Dec 2010 edition of "Thinking Highways (North America)" also has an article on how to unravel the complexities of architecting ITS, such as IntelliDriveSM and E-FRAME, which can be found at Drawing Inspiration
An article on the current use of the FRAME Architecture around the EU published in the May/April 2011 edition of "Thinking Highways" can be found at Many Languages, One Voice.
