The task of promoting the European ITS Framework Architecture and providing practical assistance to users was carried out until autumn 2004 by the FRAME projects funded by the European Commission. This role has since been taken up by the FRAME FORUM.

The FORUM organises workshops and meetings open to all those interested in developing and deploying ITS services at national, regional or local level. It also offers a point of reference for ITS research projects.

Using this website

For general information on ITS Architectures, go to the page ABOUT ITS ARCHITECTURE.  To understand the benefits of using architectures and how to create one, see the brochure Planning a Modern Transport System.

If you are new to transport telematics (Intelligent Transport Systems), have a look first at the leaflet 'What is ITS?' which describes some typical systems being used today.

A growing number of European countries are now adopting the Framework Architecture as the basis for their national ITS architectures. If you wish to know which countries are involved see NATIONAL ITS ARCHITECTURES.

Two important tools - accessible from the page EUROPEAN ITS ARCHITECTURE - have been developed to help you explore and use the Architecture:

  • The BROWSING TOOL for navigating the Framework Architecture

  • The SELECTION TOOL to help create your own ITS Architecture

Full documentation, including technical literature, reports about the European ITS Framework Architecture, can be found in the LIBRARY.
